FAQ

Fair questions

Is this even legal?

Yes — personal shopping while traveling is normal and legal. Travelers buy every item themselves at a regular store, keep the receipt, and carry it as their own belongings within standard duty-free allowances. The app blocks categories that customs restricts, and travelers are always responsible for declaring anything that requires it.

How do payments work?

When a traveler accepts your request, you pay the item price plus their delivery fee up front. The full amount is held in escrow — the traveler sees the money is secured, but nothing is released until you confirm the handoff in the app. If the delivery never happens, you get a full refund.

What can't be delivered?

Anything customs restricts or that isn't safe to fly: medications and supplements, loose lithium batteries, aerosols, alcohol and tobacco above personal limits, fresh produce, meat and other restricted agricultural goods, counterfeit items, and anything a traveler didn't purchase themselves. The app screens requests against these rules before a traveler can accept.

How do travelers get paid?

Travelers set their own delivery fee per item. After the shopper confirms the handoff, escrow releases the item reimbursement plus the delivery fee, and it's paid out to the traveler's linked bank account — typically within a couple of business days.

What if my item never arrives?

Your money never leaves escrow until you confirm delivery, so a failed delivery means an automatic full refund. Trips are tied to verified profiles with ratings and delivery history, and our support team steps in on any dispute.

When does the app launch?

CarryMigo is in private preview. We're launching first with flights into San Francisco (SFO) and San Jose (SJC) from Manila, Tokyo, Taipei, Seoul, and Mexico City — serving Bay Area communities that miss home the most. Check back here for launch news.
